Ballaro' market apartment

If you are in Palermo and you need to buy something, you will usually go to the historic market of Ballarò, a name that probably derives from the Arabic "Suq-al-Balari".

This was the place where the peasants from the farmhouse called “Balara” from which today derives its current name, sold their wares.

As in all ancient markets, here too it is customary to hear the merchants "abbanniare" (the scream, the typical shout of street vendors).
